BESt Program Director Named VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion by BJC HealthCare
Steven Player will take on the newly-created role of vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion for BJC HealthCare on November 1. The role was created to advance BJC’s mission to provide equitable, culturally aware care for all patients and ensure a diverse, culturally competent workforce.

BESt Pharmacy Program Celebrates 10th Anniversary
Since its inception, the BESt pharmacy program has trained 300 St. Louis metropolitan area high-schoolers to be future healthcare professionals. Pictured are students from the 2016 summer cohort. The acronym “BESt” represents the three institutions that dedicate their resources to the program: Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Express Scripts, and St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

BESt Prepares Underrepresented Students for Careers in Pharmacy
Every summer, a group of talented multicultural high school students from the St. Louis area participates in a program called the BESt Pharmacy Summer Institute. Meant to prepare these young people for future careers in pharmacy, the program exposes them to the profession in order to build a diverse pipeline of pharmacists to serve an increasingly diverse community.
